About
Hi, I'm the Strolling Backpacker
I write about the long way round: slow routes, honest budgets and the places between the famous stops.
The story
It started with a missed bus in Kasol.
In 2018 I missed the last bus out of Kasol and ended up walking to the next village. That evening, eating rajma chawal with a family who wouldn’t let me pay, I realised the best parts of travel happen when you slow down.
The Strolling Backpacker began as notes for friends: what things really cost, which buses actually run, where to sleep when the guidebook’s pick is full. It’s grown into a journal for anyone who’d rather walk further and see more.
Next up: small-group trips on the routes I know best, so you can travel them with company.
How I travel
Three rules for the road
Travel slow
Fewer places, more days. Three nights minimum wherever I stop.
Spend local
Homestays, dhabas and local guides first, so the money stays in the valley.
Leave no trace
Carry a bottle, pack out plastic, stay on the trail.
Work with me
Brands, tourism boards & collaborations
I partner with homestays, outdoor brands and tourism boards whose values match mine. Media kit available on request.
Field notes
Routes, budgets and the odd bad bus ride, twice a month.
